Today we visited Tanners Wood Primary School in Abbots Langley, Hertfordshire.
During the morning visit, all three hundred and ninety children from reception up to year six were introduced to Mindful Meditation practices.
As the session was delivered via Zoom it meant that every child was able to access the training. With two classes in each year group logging in and enjoying the session
The students had the opportunity to be guided through a variety of different, fun, mindful practices to help guide their attention into the present moment. They learned skills for life and also shared with me their understanding of what it means to be mindful and practice meditation.
Here are some of their comments from year two (ages 6-7) to the question: What does it mean to be mindful.
To be calm
To think calm thoughts
To get into a certain position and relax
To focus
To not feel so stressed
To spend time on your own and be calm and quiet.
To make better choices when you’re calm
Helps you to breathe
